Registered Psychotherapist

Hello! I’m Shiwan Ibrahim, a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). My path as a therapist began with a strong commitment to supporting those in need, particularly immigrants and refugees. These experiences shaped my trauma-informed approach and inspired my dedication to helping individuals navigate mental health challenges.

I focus on creating a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel truly seen and heard. I believe that healing begins with a compassionate, respectful therapeutic relationship. By centering each session around your experiences and perspectives, I ensure our work is collaborative and tailored to help you reach your personal goals.

My approach to therapy is grounded in evidence-based methods, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-informed care, grief-informed therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Gottman-informed techniques. I tailor each approach to fit the unique needs of every client, creating a personalized and comprehensive therapeutic experience.

In addition to individual therapy, I am committed to supporting clients across a variety of areas:

Family Therapy:

I support families in improving communication, addressing conflicts, and strengthening connections. My focus is on helping create a nurturing and supportive family environment where each member feels respected, heard, and valued.
